The gospel of Christ or good words!

When you hear a sermon how do you judge it?  What does the bible call the gospel of Christ?

 Romans 1: verse 16

16For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

The gospel of Christ is the power of God unto Salvation to everyone that believes it.

With so much philosophy of men around these days, we have to be very careful not to get carried always with ‘good words’ i.e. sounds very good but it is not the gospel of Christ.

 Romans 16:

17Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.

18For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

Next time you hear a sermon, go back to the bible and find out whether what you heard was:

 ‘ the gospel of Christ’

 or just

 ‘good words’

Note the word ‘good words;, will sound good, but its not the gospel of Christ.

We need to search out and examine what we hear to ensure we stay on the right path.
