Rest is essential

A good definition of rest is ‘take a short break from one’s activities in order to relax’.

Lets look at a few scriptures in scripture:

The Lord asked His disciples to take time to rest.

Mark 6:30-32

And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught.

And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.

And they departed into a desert place by ship privately.

Jesus asked hid disciples to come apart (i.e away from normal activity to rest).

The Lord rested and was refreshed:

Exodus 31:16-18

Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.

It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.

If the Lord rested and was refreshed, don’t we think we need to rest?

Paul needed to be refreshed:

Romans 15:32-33

That I may come unto you with joy by the will of God, and may with you be refreshed.

Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.

Lets take time to rest for a while and be refreshed.
