An excellent oil!!

Have you ever looked up the benefits of oil? Oil is beneficial in so many ways.

Depending on the type of oil, it heals, keeps our skin shinning, can prevent some diseases, the list goes on.

However, above all this, there is an excellent oil?

Really? What is it called.

But what does reprove mean? It means,  rebuke, correction, reproof, punishment, chastisement

Psalm 141: 5 Let the righteous smite me; it shall be a kindness: and let him reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil, which shall not break my head: for yet my prayer also shall be in their calamities.

Wow!! What a good attitude towards correction. No wander David was called a man after Gods own heart.

Lets look at a few scriptures

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (King James Version)

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

This is the product of correction ‘ being perfect and thoroughly furnished unto all good works. The excellent oil of correction will bring forth this great benefit.

Hebrew 12: 6 –  11

For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.

Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

This is another product  of correction ‘the peaceable fruit of righteousness’ unto them which are exercised thereby. .

If we are to move forward in our walk with the Lord, we must receive correction and see it as an ‘excellent oil’ ,  and let it do its work and bring forth fruit with many benefits.

  1. An excellent look at oil in Scripture.
May God continue to bless your ministry.

  2. So true! I have just spent time today researching oils. It’s amazing how God provides perfect foods and things that we can heal ourselves with and yet, we destroy them and process them so they are no longer nutritious.

Don’t we hate being chastened? I know I do!
