Beaten but not shaken

Have you ever tried to beat something that is fixed with a firm foundation? What happens? It takes the beating but it does not move neither does it shake.

Does this mean the object felt the beating? Yes of course, but because of the roots and firm foundation the object was not shaken.

In life: trials, temptations, attacks come to us all. The way to stand and not be shaken can be found in the gospels. This is Gods intent for us.

 Luke 6:

46And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

47Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:

48He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.

49But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.

What will give us deep roots and a foundation on a rock is hearing the word of the Lord and ‘doing; it.

If you notice verse 48: the bible says that the stream beat vehemently upon the house, but it was not shaken. The word ‘vehemently’ means Forcibly; powerfully; intensely.

The man that hears the word of the Lord and does not do it, has the same experience of the stream beating vehemently upon his house but with a different outcome.

Friends, let us be wise and do what we hear, day in day out. At church, house church, fellowship with others, teaching cds etc the source of hearing goes on.

The man beaten in life but not shaken is a man that hears and does the Word he hears.

Are you such a person? Or do you desire to become such a person?

Then lets do what it takes. His grace is sufficient for us.
