The words of truth and soberness

In the book of Acts when Paul was addressing  Festus in Chapter 26, he gave a description to the Word of God:

Act 26: 24- 25

24And as he thus spake for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning doth make thee mad.

25But he said, I am not mad, most noble Festus; but speak forth the words of truth and soberness.

One definition of soberness is a manner that is serious and solemn’, Brethren the Word of God is serious and solemn.

Many times we hear messages about prosperity, healing, living a good life etc the list goes on, we shout amen and dance around while the sermon is being preached. And yes while all these truths are true, there are aspects of the Bible that causes for soberness and without having a balanced view of the Word of God we cannot live victorious lives.

The bible still preaches judgement, that one day we will all give account of ourselves to the Lord, the bible talks about hell, everlasting punishment, these things call for us to be sober.

We need to appreciate the dual nature of the Word of God. The Word of truth and the Word of soberness, Is this one reason why many to not take some things serious written in the bible? If we are going to be partakers of living a godly life we must appreciate all aspects of the Word of God. And this is one reason why Paul described the Word of God as the Words of truth and soberness.

Romans 11:21-23

21For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.

22Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

23 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be grafted in: for God is able to graft them in again.

Do you already know the Lord? Then l beseech you to take all the Words of the Lord very seriously.  Or are you one that has not yet made Jesus Christ your Lord and Saviour? The bible is true and it says and states exactly what will be the end of those that do not know the Lord. However, the solution is very simple, just believe and receive Jesus as Lord and saviour. At the top of this blog there is a link that will help you take the necessary steps to salvation.

Lets honour and reference the Word of God in all aspects of our lives.
