Let no man deceive you!!
Unfortunately we live in a world that is full of deception. Have you ever met a person whom believed a lie? You knew that the person was in error, you tried your best but they refused to bend. The person was deceived and believed a lie.
We have all been subject to deception at some time in our lives. You wanted to buy an item, the advert was full of deception, you fell for it and found out that it was a lie. The product was not as good as advertised.
The consequences of being deceived vary and depends on what the deception was. If you bought a product and found out that it was not as good as advertised, in most developed countries you should be able to get your money back. The cost of the deception would have been a waste of your time. Going back to the shop or writing letters of complaint. Time that could have been spent on something else.
The consequences of the above example of deception, though irritating and annoying can be considered as very low.
Now imagine being deceived on a more serious matter. A matter of life and death or even a matter of where you will spend eternity.
Lets look at this scripture:
1Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
2And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
3But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;
4Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
5For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
6Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
7Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
I think this scripture is very clear. The bible says that fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness should not even be once named among Christians. Verse 5 goes on to say clearly, know this that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
It continues in verse 6 and 7 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
What is the bible saying here?. If you call yourself a Christian and do the above things you will partake in the consequences. It is clear ‘because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
This means, as a Christian you can be a partaker of Gods wrath. Very serious but true. This is why the bible is warning us. We cannot play around with sin and think we will get exempted from the consequences.
We have a way of escape. The Lord is faithful. Ephesians 5:8 Gives us an instruction: For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
The bible also says in 1 John 9 – 10 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
Once we ask the Lord to forgive us He will.
We live in a modern world, but don’t be deceived the Word of God is not modernised. The same standards of truth and righteousness still stand sure. If we are struggling in some areas the Lord will help us if we ask Him. But let us not deceive ourselves or refuse to acknowledge the truth.
Lets stay on the path of life. Let no man deceive you, the standards of Gods Word ever remain.
