Things that preserve!

In these moderns times so many techniques and ideas have been developed to preserve food. This means that the food does not go off, and stays in a good condition for much longer. In other words, the processes of preservation prevents from harm and damage.

The scriptures clearly state things that can preserve us. Lets look at a few of them.

Integrity and uprightness

 Psalm 25:20-22 (King James Version)

20O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee.

21Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee.

If we walk in integrity it will be difficult for the enemy to find something against us. However, if we find ourselves in awkward positions, there will be nothing that would be found against us for our integrity and uprightness will preserve us. What does that mean? You are accused for showing up late at work everyday, however the records and CCTV cameras show that you are always on time. That’s integrity and you have just been preserved.

Truth and the Lords loving kindness

Psalm 40:11 (King James Version)

11Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O LORD: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.

As we walk in the truth of the Lord, we will be preserved. What does that mean? Simply by obeying the word of God.

 Those that consider the poor:

Psalm 41:1-3 (King James Version)

Psalm 41

1Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.

2The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.

3The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.

This is a promise for those that will consider the poor.

 Loving the Lord:

Psalm 145:19-21 (King James Version)

19He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.

20The LORD preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy.

This is a promise for those that love the Lord. Remember that loving the Lord is not just by singing songs but by doing his commandments (John 14: 15 If you love me, keep my commandments).

Discretion and understanding:

Proverbs 2:10-12 (King James Version)

 10When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;

11Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

 12To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;

Discretion means, ‘The ability or power to decide responsibly’. Many problems would have been avoided if only we applied this.

 Wisdom:

Proverbs 4:5-7 (King James Version)

5Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.

6Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.

7Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

The application of wisdom is very vast and it applies in every area of our lives. Trying to start a business? Get wisdom i.e go look for it. It will save from many unnecessary expenses. The list of the application of wisdom goes on.

Giving your life for the Lord, ie total commitment to the Lord.

Luke 17:32-34 (King James Version)

 32Remember Lot’s wife.

33Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.

34I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.

When we totally commit ourselves to the Lord we preserve our lives.

Yes the Lord does preserve us, however we need to be careful not to give place to the devil. If we walk in lack of integrity, refuse to get wisdom, live our lives for ourselves, we should be rest assured that these activities have consequences if not repented off.

Lets walk in the above and be preserved..
