Balanced growth!

When most people are asked ‘how is your child or son doing’?, you tend to get various responses like, he just finished his A levels, or he just got a place atOxford, or he just got a job in a well known bank. These are just a few of the answers we get back, all which have the foundation of  intellectual development. While this is important, true growth is more that the accruing degrees and property.

Luke 1: 80 refers to John the Baptist

And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel.

Luke 2: 40 refers to our Lord Jesus Christ

And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.

If you notice both verses have the phrase ‘ waxed strong in spirit’. This is the source of true growth.

Becoming stronger in our spirits is a continuous and life time event. How much attention are you giving to this? Do you feed your spirit daily? Do you get refreshed in His presence? Let us not be those that talk about degrees, great jobs and houses but are impoverished in their spirits.

In these days of so much distractions,  iphone, all sorts of games and TV programmes, if care is not taken, we will not feed the inner man with the Word of truth.

True growth, includes waxing strong in spirit. Matthew 4:4 says Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Lets desire a balanced growth as we sail through life.
