Where is your faith?

As Christians our life is a life of faith. The bible says in Habakkuk 2; 4 that, Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith, while, 2 Corinthians 5 : 7 says (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

If we walk and live by faith, it means that as Christians we need to develop our faith in all areas of life.

A good example is that you lost a job 5 years ago, saw how the Lord came through. Now you have just lost another job. At this point we are supposed to react differently knowing that the Lord will come through for us again. In other words, our faith should have increased by now and this really should be the case in every area of life.

The disciples were in the midst of a storm and they called on Jesus.  Lets have a look at the account:

Luke 8:24-26

24And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.

25And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.

26And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee.

Jesus rebuked the wind and raging of the water and then asked the disciples, ‘Where is your faith?’

This questioned means that they could have done what Jesus did instead of wake Him up.

When we go through trials, it can be a wake up call for us. What have l done over the years to increase my faith in this area? Should l really be struggling in this area of my life after so many years? Where is our faith? Did we invest time over the years to develop our faith in this area of life?

The Lord is merciful and yes He does deliver us, however its much better when we can handle situations because we have learned and developed over the years than running around for prayer requests.

Are you going through a difficult time? Call on His mercy, however make a decision that you will invest time to grow and be able in future to handle those situations by the help of the Lord and your increased experience in His ways better. In addition to that, being able to help those that cannot help themselves.

When Jesus asked ‘Where is your faith’. it means they could have done something about it.  Sometimes we struggle because we have not done what we should have done over many years. i.e. increase in knowing the ways of the Lord.

Let learn to walk wisely so that the storms of life do not catch us unprepared.
