Nothing less than honesty!

We live in a world that sometimes sees being a little dishonest as okay. In accordance with the bible, it is not okay to be dishonest.

The wise want to always please the Lord and one way of us doing this is to be honest and live a honest life.

We need to be honest in every area of life.

1 Peter 2:12

Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

The bible gives the Israelites instructions in the book of Deuteronomy. These instructions apply to us today.

Deuteronomy 25, 13 – 16

13Thou shalt not have in thy bag divers weights, a great and a small.

14Thou shalt not have in thine house divers measures, a great and a small.

15But thou shalt have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure shalt thou have: that thy days may be lengthened in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

16For all that do such things, and all that do unrighteously, are an abomination unto the LORD thy God.

Another scripture in Leviticus states this: Leviticus 19 ; 35- 37

New International Version 1984 (NIV1984)

35 “‘Do not use dishonest standards when measuring length, weight or quantity. 36 Use honest scales and honest weights, an honest ephah[d] and an honest hin.[e] I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt.

37 “‘Keep all my decrees and all my laws and follow them. I am the LORD.’”

The Lord is calling for honesty when conducting business and He is still calling for honesty today.     There are many scriptures in the new testament that require us to be honest.

2 Corinthians 8:21

Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.

1 Thessalonians 4:12

That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.

Gods standard is honesty. We are required to be honest not only in the sight of the Lord but in the sight of men. This should include all areas of life. Business, clocking into work, doing time sheets, giving account of expenditure etc the list goes on.
