Most people don’t like the word ‘ labour’ because it means ‘work’ which we tend not to like.
The book of John clearly tells us what we should be labouring for:
John 6: 27
Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.
Paul writes in the book of 1 Corinthians
1 Corinthians 15: 58
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
Its wise to do what the Lord tells us to do. It will require work, yes labour but the labour will be profitable.
Proverbs 10: 16
The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.
When we labour for the right things it tends to life, i.e., we are building and laying up treasures for ourselves for the time to come. So the question is, what are you labouring for ? For meat and food or for the things of the Lord?
We need to be determined to live balanced lives. Yes we must attend to natural things but we must ensure that these daily things do not consume our lives.
As we labour in the things of the Lord, we will be rewarded by Him. So my question is, what are your labouring for?
