Internal surgery that no man can do

Thank God for medical advancements today. When a person breaks a leg by mistake or accident they go to the hospital to get it fixed.  Doctors can fix many things but no man can heal the heart.

Psalm 147: 3

He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

Just as we can have wounds in our body our hearts can have wounds. Wounds from betrayal, broken relationships, difficult times etc the list of the source of wounds of the heart  can go on.

So what do we do? We need  turn it over to the Lord for only He can heal and bind up the wounds of the heart. No medication can heal the heart.

Does your heart need healing? Turn to the Lord, He is ever ready and willing to heal us on the inside. No man can do this. If we want totally healing we must ask the Lord for His help.

He is an ever present help even for the healing of our hearts.

Food for thought (1: 2012)

There is the “meat of the word,” which is the illumination of the deeper truths. Every believer should be weaned from just milk so that they can eat this more solid spiritual food. We get this through our own in-depth studies, such things as going to conferences, maybe taking courses, reading books, or listening to the teachings of others on the subjects we’re pursuing. Every strong and advancing believer will have such studies going almost constantly, sinking their roots deeper and deeper into the Word and knowing the Lord’s ways

The importance of a pure conscience

1 Timothy 3: 9 Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience

We have a glorious faith. We are privileged to have access to such a faith. If you don’t know the Lord yet, the door is wide open for all. All you need to do is to receive Jesus Christ the one who died for you as Lord as Saviour and begin to live unto Him.

Yes we have a glorious faith, and to benefit more from what we have, we need to   ‘ hold the mystery of faith in a pure conscience’.

What does this mean?  Listen to your heart. We are to search our hearts at all times. We need to make sure that our motives are right. We are to remain teachable and ensure our hearts and conscience are pure.

Lets look at a few scriptures:

Acts 23

1And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day.

Acts 24:16

16And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void to offence toward God, and toward men.

Paul says here that he exercises himself i.e a conscious effort to make sure his conscience is void of offence toward God and men.

1 Timothy 1: 5

5Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

Holding our faith in a pure conscience is part of our call. Everything the Lord requires us to do is for our good and essential to life a productive Christian life.

The importance of this is evident from this scripture:

1 Timothy 1:18-19

18This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;

19Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:

Very serious but true.

Lets exercise ourselves to maintain a good and pure conscience. Lets do what we know is right and maintain our ground whether or not others do.

Its critical to our walk with the Lord.

Stop beating yourself about your mistakes

We have all made mistakes. Some mistakes have been very costly while others not so much however they have cost us something.

The Lord loves His people and while we have made mistakes, we need to learn from them and move on. Sometimes the Lord uses those same mistakes to make us wiser, better and stronger people in Him.

I recently read an account in a book called ‘The Harvest’ by Rick Joyner which was very encouraging. The following is from pages 154 and 155 of the book.

‘Some of the ministries who will bring the greatest life to the church in the days to come will be the those who have made the greatest mistakes in the past. It is a biblical and  historical reality that many fail so totally that they come to the end of all human effort and strength before God will use them. Humility comes before exaltation.

We see this precedent in the lives of the patriarchs. Abraham brought forth an Ishmael before an Isaac.  Moses tried to deliver his brethren by his own strength and had to spend forty years in the wilderness as a shepherd, the most humble profession of the time, before God could use him. Peter denied the Lord before he could be used as one of the greatest witnesses. Paul had to become the chief of sinners, persecuting the church unto death before he could be the ‘ apostle of grace’.

This may not be true for all, but it seems to be for those who would be used for the greatest spiritual advances. Many of the elders and early church fathers would put little trust in anyone who had not been broken by such failure or discipline.

From the third chapter of Genesis to the end, the Bible deals with one essential theme – redemption. In a sense we might say that God is in the redemption business- it is His heart to recover and restore what has been lost.

From the harvest by Rick Joyner’

This is very encouraging for us all. While the above starts out addressing ministries, the examples of those who made mistakes and eventually learned from them allowing God to work in them are people like you and me.

Have you made a mistake? People may not forget and always talk about it, but what really matters is that when we repent and allow the Lord to work in us, He forgives us. Not only does He forgives He redeems and restores that which was lost. This is because God is in the redemption business – it is His heart to recover and restore.

Lets stop beating ourselves about our mistakes. Yes we learn from them however we must allow the Lord to redeem and restore us. As we do we will be able to help others along the journey of life.
